Quietly we go to slaughter

Does anybody out there have any memory of the reason given for the establishment of the DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY during the Carter Administration?

· Anybody?

· Anything?

· No?

· I should leave that question out there a few days!

Bottom line ,we’ve spent several hundred billion dollars in support of an agency … the reason for which not one person who reads this can remember.

Ready???????

It was very simple..

At the time everybody thought it very appropriate…

The ‘Department of Energy’ was instituted on 8-4-1977

TO LESSEN OUR DEPENDENCE ON FOREIGN OIL.

Pretty damn efficient, huh?????

AND NOW IT’S 2009, 32 YEARS LATER …

AND THE BUDGET FOR THIS NECESSARY DEPARTMENT IS AT $24.2 + BILLION A YEAR

IT HAS 16,000 FEDERAL EMPLOYEES,

APPROXIMATELY 100,000 CONTRACT EMPLOYEES

LOOK AT THE JOB IT HAS DONE!

Ah, yes, good ole bureaucracy..

NOW under this new administration we are going to turn the Banking System,

The Health Care System,

and The Auto Industry over to
The Government???

Are We Sane, Rational, Reasonable, Wise???

Help me here.

I do remember I think. It was because of the oil and the new future green energy. Hell had they givin all that money to the Big 3 and so there just may be the green energy they are trying to develop now.

Just think of the oil they got off the coast of Cal.

Cal is broke!!

With our knowledge and ability these days, with that oil and a couple new refineries they would be the richest state.

I don't even want to get into "Green" ...

Actually, it came into being...after the Arab Oil cartel decided to have an embargo of oil...and with hold supplies to the world in order to bring prices up. It was a time in the United States where there was gas rationing for the 1st time since WWII. It was a time when gas went from .25 a gallon to over .75 cents. My God that was scary. My husband lost his job, he was a carpet installer, and carpets were/are an oil based commodity. He didn't have a job for 6 months...hard times.

I remember.....yes, I remember.
Government cant run Social Security...can't run the nation's trains, they can't run prisons in a profitable way...and now they want to run the auto industry, the financial industry...
I can't wait sweetie...
