Gun Control !!

What do you think of this?

Judge Sonia Sotomayor could walk into a firestorm on Capitol Hill over her stance on gun rights, with conservatives beginning to question some controversial positions she's taken over the past several years on the Second Amendment.

Earlier this year, President Obama's Supreme Court nominee joined an opinion with the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that Second Amendment rights do not apply to the states.

A 2004 opinion she joined also cited as precedent that
"the right to possess a gun is clearly not a fundamental right."

Ken Blackwell, a senior fellow with the Family Research Council, called Obama's nomination a "declaration of war against America's gun owners."
Such a line of attack could prove more effective than efforts to define Sotomayor as pro-abortion, efforts that essentially grasp at straws. Sotomayor's record on that hot-button issue reveals instances in which she has ruled against an abortion rights group and in favor of anti-abortion protesters, making her hard to pigeonhole.

Sotomayor's position on gun control is far more than crystallized.

She is out and out anti gun and would be really happy to see you lose

"Right to Own and Bear Arms

"A citizen who can not Own or Bear Arms is therefore a SLAVE"

Blackwell, who also ran unsuccessfully to head the Republican National Committee, told FOX News her position is "very, very disturbing."
"That puts our Second Amendment freedoms at risk," he said. "What she's basically saying is that your hometown can decide to suppress your Second Amendment freedoms."

So as far as I see it she fits right in with the Liberal Tyranny in Charge.

When it gets too far we will never get it back.

"My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government." Thomas Jefferson

"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." Thomas Jefferson

"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." Thomas Jefferson

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." Thomas Jefferson

Have any of you heard anything on Judge Sonia Sotomayor

Position on the Second Amendment?

I wonder why?

Ponder this a bit I will start my rant on that pretty soon....

In light of the present financial crisis, it's interesting to note what

Thomas Jefferson said in 1802:

"Banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."

Where are we going?

The middle of last year I was called for Jury Duty. I know for a fact she would not have been qualified to be a juror on the case that was being tried.

If she can't be a juror how is it she could be a Supreme Justice?

I wonder....

Gun Control !!

Does this guy get his point across?

A Perspective on Torture

Thoughts from Medal of Honor winner, Col Bud Day USAF (Ret.) about his time
as a prisoner in North Vietnam.

Extracted from forwarded Message Subject: Fox News Channel Salutes Medal of Honor; quoting Col Day: "I didn't expect to be reminded of my treatment some 36 years ago, on this holiday weekend, but our politicians find it worthy to ignore what some have actually 'been there' have tried to recount to them."

Case in point in Col. Day's letter to a friend, below.

'Dear Kelly:

Thanks for the "heads up" on the Medal of Honor spots. Some of my
friends have seen it already and mentioned it. I sent a copy of my book to Fox
News in D.C., so that Sean Hannity would be able to talk about what
torture really is. He has no one on his side to talk about torture -- someone who has actually been tortured. He is free to quote from the many illustrations that I provided in my book Duty, Honor, Country.

I got shot down over North Vietnam in 1967 -- a squadron commander.

After I returned in 1973, I published 2 books that dealt a lot with
"real torture" in Hanoi. Our make-believe president is branding our
country as a bunch of torturers when he has no idea what torture is.

For example -- as for me, I was put through put through a mock execution because I would not respond...pistol whipped on the head...same event.

Couple of days later...hung by my feet all day.

I escaped and got recaptured a couple of weeks later. I got shot in the hand when recaptured.

Shot was OK...what happened after was not.

They marched me to Vinh... put me in the rope trick... almost pulled my arms out of the sockets. Beat me on the head with a little wooden rod until my eyes were swelled shut, and my unshot, unbroken hand a pulp.

Next day they hung me by the arms... rebroke my right wrist... wiped out the nerves in my arms that control the hands... rolled my fingers up into a ball.

Only left the slightest movement of my left forefinger. So I started answering with some incredible lies.

They sent me to Hanoi strapped to a barrel of gas in the back of a truck. In Hanoi... on my knees.. rope trick again. Beaten by a big fool.

Then into leg irons on a bed in Heartbreak Hotel.

Much kneeling... holding hands up at Zoo.

Really bad beating for refusing to condemn Lyndon Johnson.

Several more kneeling events. I could see my knee bone thru kneeling holes worn through the skin.

There was an escape from the annex to the Zoo. I was the Senior Officer of a large building, and because of escape... they started a mass torture of all commanders.

I think it was July 7, 1969... they started beating me with a car fan belt. In first 2 days I took over 300 strokes... then stopped counting because I never thought I would live through it.

They continued day-nite torture to get me to confess to a non-existent part in the escape. This went on for at least 3 days. On my knees... fan belting... cut open my scrotum with fan belt stroke... opened up both knee holes again.

My fanny looked like hamburger... I could not lie on my back.

They tortured me into admitting that I was in on the escape... and that my 2 room-mates knew about it.

The next day I denied the lie.

They commenced torturing me again with 3- 6- or 9 strokes of the fan belt every day from about July 11 or 12th... to 14 October 1969. I continued to refuse to lie about my roommates again.

Now, the point of this is that our make-believe president has declared to the world that we (the U.S.) are a bunch of torturers. Thus, it will be OK to torture us next time when they catch us... because that is what the U.S. does.

Our make-believe president is a know nothing fool who thinks that pouring a little water on some one's face, or hanging a pair of woman's underpants over an Arab's head is TORTURE.

He is a meat head.

I just talked to MOH holder Leo Thorsness who was also in my squad in jail... as was john McCain... and we agreed that McCain does not speak for the POW group when he claims that Al Gharib was torture... or that water boarding is torture.

Our president and those fools around him who keep bad mouthing our great country are a disgrace to the United States. Please pass this info on to Sean Hannity. He is free to use it to point out the stupidity of the claims that water boarding... which has no after effect... is torture. If it got the Arab to cough up the story about how he planned the attack on the twin towers in NYC... hurrah for the guy who poured the water."

From Medal of Honor winner,

Col Bud Day USAF (Ret.)

Is this where we are headed?

Beginning in earnest last year I began a campaign of letter writing to elected United States Representatives, Senators, and the White House under both President Bush and now President Obama. Some of you have received some of those letters with a request to contact your representatives.

The tone of all of my correspondence has been that of a citizen who is fed up with the government for spending money we do not have!! We are experiencing economic deflation, and taking control of private business, that I believe it is in violation of the constitutional rights of business owners, shareholders, and frankly every citizen of this country.

Ask the Bank of America shareholders Or Chrysler, or currently GM shareholders, today if their rights were violated. Then the government forced B of A's CEO to purchase Merrill Lynch for $15 Billion more than its' value. I didn't know the facts at that time, however I knew government had no right to enter into the making of business decisions for shareholders, with or without full disclosure.

I have further stated my intent to exercise any and all of my rights as a citizen. To do everything in my power to see that any elected official who refuses to govern according to the constitution, and who refuses to act in an official capacity according to the wishes, beliefs, and demands of the public be removed from public office.

I have also voiced my opinion that career politicians are the antithesis of the views of the framers, and called for single term limits of any elected office. In no way did I ever suggest anything other than our constitutional rights as citizens to control our government's actions.

Yesterday, as a result of one of my letters,
I was paid a visit by the Joint Terrorism Task Force of the FBI.

One Senator, (So and So), reported to the FBI that he felt I was endangering the government and should be investigated as a suspected terrorist.

This after every single one my letters was sent through the official website of the government, and contained all of my personally identifying information and was specifically stated as advising each U. S. Senator that I was offering political opinion about pending legislation, or governmental policy.

Apparently, as this left leaning Congress, Senate, and White House, assaults our rights on a daily basis. They are now resorting to reporting dissenters of their policies to the FBI, as a terrorist threat.

Since when did expressing a political opinion, or disagreeing with the passage of Socialist bills in the legislature become terrorist in nature? I have specifically objected vehemently to the TARP, TALC, Economic Recovery Act, Omnibus Spending Bill, President Obama's 3.6 trillion dollar budget, cap and trade, and every other anti capitalist bill put forth in the 111th Congress.

The FBI agent was very polite and respectful. He explained why I had been targeted and by whom, Senator (So and So), and assured me that this would be the end of it. I explained to him in answer to his questions what and why I had written.

At first I was rather amused that a Senator would do such a childish piss ant thing. I immediately starting penning out a new letter to the Honorable Senator, then left it to cool before sending it.

I spent all of my adult life defending this nation, against all enemies foreign or domestic. Reasonably well decorated, and now I am investigated as a Terrorist against this Nation?

Is this where we are headed?

The realization of the intent of this Senator's action, and the resulting wariness on my part to write anymore letters came rising up as rage that an elected representative in the United States of America would even dare do such a thing.

Is this the Socialistic Fascism the current majority is pushing on the American people? Is this soon to be followed by not only political Fascism, but Tyranny, at the hands of our own Federal law enforcement agencies?

Simply at the direction of some political hack Senator? Is this truly the last of it, or am I now identified somewhere as a terrorist threat to be watched?

I share this here because many of you are writing the same letters. If you have also been targeted, or if you are in the future, we all have the need to know. Your responses are welcome.

New upper working well!!

Annual physical yesterday no real changes, ticker ok, blood wrk looks good.

Vascular checkup tomorrow, the sonogram for it was last week and all data was normal for me no new changes.

Subie "Upper" tune up Monday. I just need a little adjustment. There is a spot that every now and again that pinches me. We will probably roll that spot away from me a tiny bit.

So it has been a busy few medical days here last few days.

After Monday I will work hard getting ready for my trip to San Diego.

Here are a few more pictures of the party last week.

Everyone brought a rose or two this is not all of them. They all never got all in the same spot that was a little over 1/2 of them.

This is a pretty good picture of the server's right arm.

Holy Cow is it Fri Yet?

I had a great weekend!!

Went to a great party Fri eve for an 89 year old gal. She was quite spry and then another gal showed up and it was her 90th birthday.

The gal on the left is the one who happened to have the same birthday and was 90 years old. She was dam near as spry and quit quick witted. I chatted with her for some time and she very interesting to chit chat with.

Then after we sang Happy Birthday we have the Young and the Experienced serving the cake. Notice several Yellow roses on the cake and one on the neck of the server. The server also had a purple rose on her arm.

I will put a couple more pics up in a bit I have to run.

It was a good party with lots of attendees all had a good time!

Wednesday, May 20, 2009

Well I got me a new upper

Well I got me a new upper.

Not without a fair share of turmoil.

I must remember I am about a month from going to San Diego for the evaluation to receive a new knew electronically assisted knew. Must keep a good and positive attitude. Whew!!

I should have taken or had Subie take a few pics of me trying to put it on.

It was a real goat Rodeo. My fabulous blue parachute bag I used to put on my old prosthetic tore down the seem.

I am going to a place that provides Brand New Prosthetics so I assumed ...: made an ass of me...; that they would also provide the tools you need to put the damn thing on.

Well I wont go into the details... I got it on ...

First few tentative steps.

A few adjustments later and shorten it up some and it felt pretty good.

Subie putting all the parts back together, in her little work shop with all her tools and toys.

My knee on a box while the tube gets trimmed to length.

Well after a few of those adjustment and 3 or 4 on and offs with the leg I was outta there.

When I got home, first thing I did was turn my parachute inside out sew it back together, then turn it right side out through a tiny tiny hole. Mend the hole and poof back in business.

You can see the hardware that connects top to bottom.
Also the seem repair ...

Can't see the place I turned the bag inside out of, hahhahaha

I will update you again soon as to fit and adjustments.

Quietly we go to slaughter

Does anybody out there have any memory of the reason given for the establishment of the DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY during the Carter Administration?

· Anybody?

· Anything?

· No?

· I should leave that question out there a few days!

Bottom line ,we’ve spent several hundred billion dollars in support of an agency … the reason for which not one person who reads this can remember.

Ready???????

It was very simple..

At the time everybody thought it very appropriate…

The ‘Department of Energy’ was instituted on 8-4-1977

TO LESSEN OUR DEPENDENCE ON FOREIGN OIL.

Pretty damn efficient, huh?????

AND NOW IT’S 2009, 32 YEARS LATER …

AND THE BUDGET FOR THIS NECESSARY DEPARTMENT IS AT $24.2 + BILLION A YEAR

IT HAS 16,000 FEDERAL EMPLOYEES,

APPROXIMATELY 100,000 CONTRACT EMPLOYEES

LOOK AT THE JOB IT HAS DONE!

Ah, yes, good ole bureaucracy..

NOW under this new administration we are going to turn the Banking System,

The Health Care System,

and The Auto Industry over to
The Government???

Are We Sane, Rational, Reasonable, Wise???

Help me here.

Funny thing happened on the way to the park

Yesterday I had a sonogram of my femoral arteries, no alarms, just normal preventative information.

Anyway on checking in, there was a cute little gal that checked me in. She was sporting an interesting tattoo that was still in progress, and I ask her if I could take a picture.

Her next sitting for more work is in late June, I ask her to call me and I would come down and update the pics.

So now I am just sitting around waiting my turn and get called and head in for my sonogram. I get in there and we chit chat on how is her daughters, same gal did me last year.

Talk about the process, then I start to get ready and notice I do not have my "parachute" bag I use to put my leg on.

I can't take my leg off if I can't put it back on. Nope don't have one in the car either. Any way we discuss what to do. I don't want to reschedule, because I need this data for my semiannual check up with main doc.

So we decide ok we will do the sonogram and she has a wheel chair and she will wheel me and my leg out to the car after we are done. I can drive no problem, then get a little help on the other end.

As we are about done I get to thinking what else I can use. I ask has she any hose or pantyhose, nope. Then I think trash bag, she reaches in her tote bag and dumps her lunch out on her desk and has a Wal-Mart in hand.

Well sure enough I put that flimsy plastic bag on leg and ease the end of it out the vent plug of prosthetic. Put my leg in and start wiggling leg and pulling on the bag and sure enough, poof my prosthetic is on!!!

Thanks Kathi you are a real get the job done kinda Gal....

Thanks again

OK I will build a Salad

Start out with 1/2 a nice red tomato, a firm medium cucumber, and a leaf or 2 of lettuce. I often times mix 1 leaf red leaf lettuce and 1 leaf iceberg. Today I just wanted the crunch or iceberg.

Peal the cucumber then I use the slice side of a shredder to slice up the cucumber, chop the lettuce up and cube up in small pieces the tomato. Again depends on the mood sometime I will slice tomato and lay slices like a hand of cards, next to a pile of something else. Today Cubed.

Clean up and trim 4 or 5 green onions, take an inch or so off of the green tops and chop them and add to the lettuce pile

Cut 4 or 5 red radishes into little munchies pieces

Ta-Daaaaaaaaa !!! Add a little salt and pepper some light olive oil and a tad of red wine vinager, and there ya go

A little Compare

I didn't do too well on getting pictures of all the products I normally look for. I will do better here soon. It was kind of a spur of the moment thought.

Not Scientific but I will try to be objective.

A good example would be Oranges. Sometimes my veggie place, no names here, has "Navel" oranges 10 lbs for a $0.99. Normally they are 3 lbs for $0.99.

For the most part since about Mar, they have been Very Good!!. When they don't look too good or they are 10 Lbs for a buck I buy one and eat it on site LOL.

Now at my place they give me an orange and paper towel when I walk in. They even let me have a mango once. They had 3 for a dollar for Mothers day. All other stores were about a dollar or more for 1 mango, even street venders were about 60 70 cents a piece. Anyway they expect me to test now I think.

Back to Oranges, a batch or 2 ago, I had to shop around for a sweet orange. ...
Hence my comparison...Now I like "My Store" all the better.

This is not ONLY a price comparison. I would not continue to buy fruit and produce if the taste and freshness did not meet my personal standards.

I wish I took the time to photo the veggies I got too. I got a pretty batch this last visit to my fruit and veggie store.

I will show a couple of comparisons.

$0.50 cents a LBS for Bananas I try to get them so every day I get a pretty ripe one I like em a tad riper than most folks.

Same for Granny Smiths, This time of the year I get grannys...

5 Cucs for a Buck, and they are great!!

Onions normally 4 or 6 for .99 that day it was 2 for .99 and

Red leaf was 0.69 out of the picture sorry trust me.

Usually .69 to .89 I have seen $1.29 did not buy that day LOL

These limes are great too I use 1 on my salad, I will show ya a salad here in a day or 2

These avocados are about 1/2 way between the small 4 for $5 and the 1 for $1.69 each... These are 3 for $0.89 !!! I bought as many as I thought I could use before any went bad. Yesterday I made a Avocado and tomato sandwich. Wow, was it great! I will take a pic of that next time I build one ;>)

/// Those signs are in hi density ticket areas. Now how does that guy know that LOL.

In case I get a ticket on the way or way back.. LOL

...//// Red Leaf

Couple onion types, I get both type from time to time, but I get the green onion bunches every trip they look and smell good, at my place.

Notice also the cucumbers 2 for $3.00

I get cucumbers most every week they have good ones.
....

The big ones here are $1.69 EACH! sorry I wobbled on the pic LOL..

These little ones are 4 for $5.00

These navels are $1.50 a Lbs

The Limes are 3 for a buck

Here we have my cat's fruit basket.

Friday, May 15, 2009

Is it Friday yet ?

I go to a "Spanish/Mexican" "Hispanic" What would be politically correct here LOL.

This place is owned and operated by Mexicans, and 95% or more of the people who work there are either Mexican or Mexican/Americans. This company has 3 or 4 stores here in Vegas.

I am lucky enough to live pretty close to one. I love to go there and get my veggies and fruit. I usually go 2 or 3 times a week. Most everyone that works there knows me LOL, I am treated very well too.

Anyway to the point I went there a couple 3 days ago and dadburn if they didn't have a Band playing and singing out in front of the place.

They had 4 different guitars 2 ladies with violins and a couple 3 horns.

Pretty neat outfits too. A lot of silver.

Check out the bow ties, :>)
